Have you heard about the London Alternative Market (LAM)?
Located in the heart of the City of London, the LAM is one of the capitals best kept secrets for the fetish community and curious kinksters.
We give you a quick overview of what the market has to offer, from those looking to network with other people, learn more about safe and consensual play or just to pick up an unusual addition to their play equipment.
What is the London Alternative Market?
The London Alternative Market is a monthly event to support the fetish and alternative communities of London. As well as providing shopping opportunities from specialist stallholders it is an important networking event.
Held in the Revolution Bar on Leadenhall Street, the space is transformed for one day each month to host an eclectic mix of fetishists, kinksters and alternative-minded people. People come to shop, explore, catch-up and take part.
After the market, an afterparty is available for further socialising and the space is also run as a play area.
What Can You Buy at the London Alternative Market?
There are plenty of stallholders who attend the market on a regular basis selling a range of toys, clothing and play items from across the following categories:
- Adult baby wear
- BDSM toys
- Bondage play items
- Burlesque gear
- Cross dressing
- Dungeon equipment
- Erotic Art
- Fetish clothing and media
- Health and wellbeing
- Jewellery and accessories
- Latex and leather clothing
- Medical gear
- Pet Play
There are some popular names running stalls at the events including Subspace Leathers, Koolie’s Kreations, Fudge Builds, Kabunza Craftwerks and Crowned Jewels.
You can certainly pick up some interesting items that you are unable to browse in other sex stores in the city. Of course, some equipment is only available to order but you can pick up the details of manufacturers and suppliers very easily.
In addition to products and gear you can also get advice and information as well as personal services such as a holistic treatment from SADistic Massage.
What Else Does the London Alternative Market Offer?
As well as providing a vibrant and diverse marketplace for the fetish community, the event is also an important social gathering.
The event’s organisers provide three free workshops on each market day which provide information from experienced players and professionals. Previous topics covered include wax play, healthy mental practise and the matter of consent.
After the market has finished, the vault is transformed into a play space with a suspension cube, rope and bondage room. The basement space incorporates a cell room with the sub-basement offering a range of dungeon furniture.
The ground floor reverts to a relaxing bar with chill-out music and the chance to socialise with other fetish enthusiasts.
Play at the after party must be conducted within the law and full nudity and sexual acts are not permitted. There is a resident master and mistress on hand to control play and provide experienced subjugation, advise and education.
The lobby area also provides a great repository for information on other events, services and clubs in and around London that might be of interest to marketgoers.
